Writeup from our special between seasons showing of Peter Cushing as Dr. Who in Dalek’s Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.
This is a record of general comments made during the viewing of the film in MST3K fashion by the TARDIS Project gang.
Doctor Who and The Dalek Invasion Earth 2150 AD
(looking at the cover) Sweet, Daleks and legs!
ARRUUUUUUUUU
The groovy hip thing
In fusha!
They need to project this onto a woman in a biki or something.
Well this show’s already going done the toilet
Ascots for all my men!
There’s a jungle somewhere in this.
Someone’s smoking!
I think it’s the sound track editor.
David Whitiker. It’s not going to entirely suck if he was involved somehow.
I suspect something surprising is going to happen.
Wrong Peter Cushing film. Wrong key!
Bernard Cribbins everybody!
ALOHA!
Boing!
Well, I do like a man in uniform.
Stop, or I’ll say, stop again.
Perhaps the clanging bell hasn’t been heard. I guess I’ll blow my whistle.
Ah, pretty girl!
So what happened to the previous meat puppet from the last movie?
They probably couldn’t have afforded him.
It’s just a bunch of boxes and a door frame with a black background.
It’s black box time machine theater. Very modern.
It’s Pink Floyd album cover!
It’s nice to see the movie Susan is just as incompetent as the TV show Susan.
Oh, I’m suddenly hungry for Sugar Puffs and I don’t know why.
It’s a shoe! I’ve seen these, tricky buggers.
It’s got a sole. And a tongue.
Wow, the hats on the robomen look even dorkier. I didn’t think that was possible.
The plot’s just speeding along, isn’t it.
It’s almost like someone other than Terry Nation is writing the script.
“Oh, that’s highly advanced”
What did they do with the crow bar than the went into the warehouse to get?
It’s in his pants.
Blah blah blah buns of steel yada yada
It’s interesting to see what they kept, isn’t it.
The sound track seems to have snuck in from a Brady Bunch episode.
Nice!
Ladies and Gentlemen, the budget.
Oh wait, there’s the wires.
Oh thanks high quality DVD!
Peter Cushing in this movie is like a Christopher Walken you can understand
Wouldn’t they get dizzy?
Children will not be allowed to walk
Nice Del Monty placement.
Louise is just staring vacantly with a slight smirk on her face.
Down by the river I lost my baby.
It’s Devo!
Toy Boat! Toy Boat!
Sounds like a Pink Panther sound track.
It doesn’t even fade out, it just cuts!
I AM STUCK ON A FLIGHT OF STAIRS!
Sweat shops… and Ironside in color.
Why are they making AK 47s instead of shotguns?
I think they’re cleaning them, not making them.
They kept the wheelchair guy.
For the irony.
Everybody drink!
Woah, that’s a pretty good toy.
With our model rocket engines.
Where’s David?
I think that’s David.
He’s like twice Susan’s age! Oh dear.
I sense it with my mighty hair!
Man, soundtrack is chewing the scenery. I didn’t think that was possible.
Lego Daleks!
ISSUE THEM WITH FETISH GEAR!
Good thing there were Styrofoam bricks there to stop his fall.
People are all picking on this, but it’s WAY better than the TV series!
We’re picking on it because we can.
Lindon Jonson, prisoner of the Daleks.
They really didn’t make any attempt to consider what the world would be line in 200 years, did they?
I get the impression that the invasion started some time ago.
Love the Kubrickian angles!
Yeah, the shaky cam is done well too.
Reverse the polarity!
It doesn’t simplify the puzzle from the TV show.
So, we’re 20 minutes in, and already in mid-episode 3 at this point.
We will fight them on the ramps! We will fight them in the parking lots!
I suddenly feel like getting on a motor cycle.
Man, this thing gets great FM!
And when we run into something?
But you haven’t given us the safe word.
Oh, they’re going to do our hair!
Yes!
He didn’t sound like a roboman.
The Daleks aren’t that bright.
Nice!
What’s happening? I’m suddenly robotic. And stupid!
Let’s wrestle with the Dalek by holding him by the gun.
Did they seriously just speed up the film?
I remember this bit being creepy in the TV show.
Well, it didn’t have a jazz soundtrack either.
That and it’s much faster. You don’t get to know the characters.
What? I can’t hear you over the inappropriate overpowering soundtrack.
Okay, I can’t take that seriously. Or that
Kill robomen with brick!
Isn’t that why they wear helmets?
These are the nicest scruffy rebels I’ve ever seen.
Who’s scruffy looking?
<Ex-ter-min-ate!>
Take another drink!
It’s awesome, there’s no depth what-so-ever. What’s a character?
Quick, duck and they’ll shoot each other.
In this movie it wouldn’t surprise me.
Two more drinks… three.
Fu-mi-gate! Fu-mi-gate!
I’m alive!
Main character, he has a neck scarf.
In the future, ascots turn into scarves.
I love the Dalek on fire in the background there.
It’s not actually the soundtrack, he just has a portable music player.
Well, we know the helmets get radio.
With the blast shield down, how can I see.
They are organized by height!
The soundtrack is all Scooby Doo!
They’re going to be short one plate, aren’t they.
So, in the span of ten minutes we go from the slaughter of the human race, to a game of musical chairs, to a cafe.
I love the guy second from the right who’s helmet is kind of off center. “Me Stan!”
That’s the third time it’s happened. They’re all dead again!
Don’t forget the Ian clone cop, Susan!
I’m very impressed by Susan’s handwriting.
And suddenly we’re in Hogan’s Heros. The Daleks Hogan’s Heros.
This is the strangest production of Cats ever!
<robomen, with Ian clone hiding among them, wake up>
Uhoh! Ian clone didn’t wake up!
What a great disguise. I better take it off.
“I can’t see a thing in this helmet!”
You know, she’s nice, but she just doesn’t have that “Barbara Wright” hair.
Lucile Ball did it better.
TURN AROUND!
Pist! There’s a message on the door!
The writing is on the wall!
I said her handwriting was good, not her grammar.
Or her grandpa, apparently.
The budget everybody!
Wow, I really hope Susan doesn’t stay behind this time to marry the dope.
I have this strange urge for Castrol oil, and I don’t know why.
So, the plan?
Didn’t he have bombs in the TV show?
Wasn’t he told the bombs don’t work?
Didn’t he have an experimental one that actually did work.
AH!
Magic glass eraser!
Wow, I love that purple dalek.
One in ten.
It’s like the Crayola box of Daleks.
Chickens!
Oh, the chickanity!
No animals were harmed in the making of this film. Except for the one chicken.
Roadkill!
Dude, there’s some serious driving going on there!
Pretty little girls should never get in a van with a strange man…
Or let him get on top of them
No little girl, you have to stay down. It could be coming back at any moment. Oh, here comes another space ship!
Stop it!
Action roll!
Doctor Who, cold cold bastard.
It’s like a Star Wars thing. They’re going out the trash compactor!
Lucas ripped them off.
Oh, it’s a mine!
No, it’s mine!
The soundtrack does not stop, does it?
What a convient shed. Good thing the Daleks didn’t see inside the window.
Okay, not a jungle, but a swamp.
Wow, that old lady is about as cheerful as a kick in the crotch.
Well, the old lady’s face just stopped the soundtrack, so I’m fine with that.
Hey look, it’s Tom Servo.
In the future!
Apparently only Daleks get to use wheels.
That’s why they were after the wheelchair rebel leader!
Or a much more stupid one.
Outraged Peter Cushing!
In the meantime we’ll hide here and hope that weirdo monster from the TV series isn’t in the movie.
It’s blue riding hood!
And everybody drink!
He’s working lights at a Devo show!
And the Doctor continues to be immaculate.
It’s not “The Doctor” it’s “Doctor Who.”
It’s interesting that Louise calls him “Doctor” and not “Uncle Who.”
At least someone lamp shades it as insane!
He must be a bad guy, he’s smoking.
He’s got that Herman Cain smile.
No handrail? Well, I guess the Daleks have no hands.
WHY??
WHAT??
I want a little whip like that!
So, if they’re just boring into the center of the earth, where are they taking the rocks?
And why Bedfordshire?
If you can build an entire spaceship you’d think you can come up with more efficient mine digging than old guys with sacks.
It’s cheap!
23! Look for it, it’s everywhere.
Got to resist the temptation to spit into it.
Double-cross!
the budget again, ladies and gentlemen!
AHHHHHH! Turn, turn!
I have horrible fears of poor actors falling down these things.
Wait, what shaft is he climbing up?
He has to climb up to get down.
The shaft that was dug by humans… rock by rock.
The Daleks are technology advanced species… so humans have to dig the shaft rock by rock?
None of it made sense in the original TV series plot either.
No, it makes more sense this time because it’s in color!
I love how the guy with the hat has all the lines of “this plot is dumb. Okay, we had to follow the original story, but this plot is still dumb.”
Okay, now I’M confused as to which shaft he’s in.
Drink!
<”look!” Doctor lamely distracts the Dalek and runs>
Nice death!
Yes, well done!
It’s in Rels! Nice continuity!
<Dalek’s explain time-line>
Those orders would have made more sense if they’d done them in chronological order.
Yes.
Can a bomb really be stopped…
Diverted…
Diverted by moving a few planks?
Again, it’s amazing how much plot they KEPT from the original story.
It’s not going to stop, but it’s going to slide. Very slowly.
It’s a very light bomb.
It’s like a weird theme park ride!
Oh no, not Ian clone! Oh… he’s fine.
Seriously?
Yep, Daleks defeated by tarps.
See, hand guardrails didn’t even help!
Baked Dalek!
Ladies and gentlemen, the budget. It’s in triumphant finale!
GAMERA! GAMERA!
That is a really cool model, I just have to say so again.
And now they’re going to blow it up.
Okay, it’s on a string, but it’s a cool model.
They weren’t exactly planning for HD TV here.
And a curtain call for the budget!
Lava!
Lava?
Well yes. It’s the center of the earth.
“Unlike every other planet in the galaxy… except all of them.”
Judo chop! Judo chop!
I got the crooks and the money. I’m confused!
Oh nice. Bernard Cribbins
just received his OBE a few weeks ago!
Watch for Doctor Who next summer in… Dalek Finger!
